Getting Ready for Trip (Christmas Freeze)
The challenges began at Christmas time, when I went to Bellingham to be with my daughter Kelley and her husband Casey and his mom Vicki. There was a BIG snowstorm and very low temps. I stayed an extra day because it was still snowing and then I had to clean off a foot of snow on my truck. The roads were still snowy, but I made it home on the 27th. When I got back to Lopez, there was no water – pipes were frozen! I contacted a plumber but he was swamped because lots of folks had problems. So I filled water jugs and took showers at Dick and Roni’s house. When things started to thaw, I could hear water running under the house. That’s bad. So I turned off the water to the house, shut down the well, drained the storage tank and setup the hose to drain the house lines and prepared to leave it as is. Hopefully the plumber will be able to fix it before I get home!!
