2024 #22 – West – Colorado – Utah – Idaho

April 18th – 22nd

I headed west. The first set of photos below is the most amazing cloud formations I have ever seen, still in Colorado. There were huge stripes across the whole sky! The video shows a 360 degree view of the sky. Then there are some still photos in the slide show. After this I headed into Utah. Soon after I crossed the border the terrain became dry desert with lots of rocky hills. I stopped at the Strawberry Adventures RV park in Fruitland UT. It is next to a reservoir and surrounded by the Red-Rock Mountains and beautiful scenery. It was at a higher elevation and there was a lot of snow on the ground!

From there I went to Salt Lake City to visit with my Escapees Solos RV friends: Roger Fulmer and Carol Preimesberger. We had a great visit, went to the Black Bear restaurant for lunch, then Roger drove us to Carol’s home – a senior living environment. She gave us a tour of her apartment and the rest of the common areas. It’s a lovely place. Carol was a main figure in the Solos club, organizing Quartzsite rallies and so much more, but she has now hung up her keys. Back at Roger’s house, we visited some more and I got to know his daughter Jana. My trailer was parked in front of his house. In the morning we went out to breakfast, then I left around noon, heading west. My next stop was a city RV park in Burley ID. It was on the Snake River and I took a long walk along the river. There was a sign “Loaf Summit EL. 4097 Ft.” along the trail. It was perfectly flat all around, so where’s the summit?? I guess that means we were on a plateau at 4000′. Surrounded by lots of fields and grain and dairy storage. I ended up staying there for 2 nights because of very high winds. The second day it was so windy I couldn’t take a walk until 8pm in the evening!

I noticed that I had a leaking water pipe and I was able to meet up with a mobile RV repair guy in Twin Falls and he had it fixed in a half hour. Whew! Spent the night at Mountain View RV park in Boise ID.

Next (and last) travelogue: a stop in Mosier OR then a few visits in WA and HOME! Coming soon…

Watch the video below – incredible cloud formations covered the whole sky, in western Colorado. I have never seen anything like this!!
