2025 #5B – Exploring Sedona, Part 2

Feb 22nd – Feb 25th

Feb 22nd was my third day in Camp Verde. I drove into Sedona taking lots of side roads to explore the town and seeing the amazing rock formations from lots of different angles.

One of the days I explored the long Oak Creek Canyon, and saw a lot of Native arts and crafts at the main parking area. The Canyon follows a fault line, see the diagram below. Then I followed the road all the way to Flagstaff. I could see snow on the mountain tops, but I had to get closer to see the details! On the way back to my RV park, I decided to explore the Verde Valley School Rd., and with no signage or directions ended up on the far side of the Cathedral Rock formation, with the setting sun lighting it up. This Rock formation stands out from every direction in Sedona and I was surprised to get to see it up close.

The next day I spent some time making reservations for a Blue Grass Festival in Lake Havasu, and an RV reservation in Santa Barbara where I will be visiting Karleen Patrick, a Lopez friend. Then I drove to Cornville to visit Connie and Nick, whose mom lived on Lopez. We had a fun, long dinner together. This was my last day in Sedona,

The next day I prepped for another trip back to Lake Havasu for the Blue Grass Festival and camping in the desert. I took a shower, emptied the trailer’s holding tanks and refilled the water, went shopping for some groceries. On the way back, I stopped at the Pueblo Ruins of Montezuma Castle, walked along Beaver Creek and explored the area.

Next day a long drive back to Lake Havasu. Goodbye Sedona!
